Sneaker Rules

Sneakers are by far my favorite kicks to head out the door in, no matter what I am wearing. They are cool, they are comfortable, and a great way to show your personal style. Choices on sneaker style are infinite, from the classic Chuck Taylor to the sleek Adidas, to the "Dad sneaker" of current fame.

Personally, I often choose a white sneaker, but with something that stands out about it, whether it is an added graphic or great laces. Don't be afraid to wear sneakers with everything. A pair of modern kicks with a suit, a flirty dress, or dressy pant ups your style game instantly.

Here are five of my favorite pairs to step into summer and beyond!

Comme des Garçon PLAY Chuck Taylor 1970s Sneakers

Could these be any more fun? The classic Chuck Taylor partners with the Comme des Garçons PLAY x Converse in a cool army green. (It also comes in white) I adore the Japanese label's signature whimsical graphics with this iconic Chuck Taylor 1970s sneaker. Wear these with your favorite denim and a black tee or an all white ensemble to keep your street style game strong.

Veja V-10 Sneakers

These Veja 'V-10' Sneakers are cool in more ways than one. Sustainably crafted from smooth leather, tweed and perforated suede, set on rubber soles that are ethically sourced from the Amazon forest, these sneakers are the ultimate. They come in a variety of colors, but I loved this plum and rose combination, which pops no matter what you are wearing. I am thinking a floral dress for summer and leather pants and a grey sweater come fall.

I managed to score these Givenchy Urban Street Logo Strap Sneakers on sale recently, which is great because they are selling out everywhere fast. You can still find them at Nordstrom, linked above, or a similar style at Moda Operandi here. What do I love about these? They have their label strongly present, yes, which is not normally my thing, but this one has it done in such a chic way that they have made an eternally classic street style shoe. Sold. 

Superga x LoveShackFancy Classic Floral Sneaker

A match made in summer heaven! The collaboration of LoveShackFancy's ultimate feminine floral pattern and the classic Italian Superga sneaker makes the most charming shoe ever. I am smitten with the blue rose pattern and polka dot laces, which when combined with the Superga style makes for a perfect summer shoe. These are the cutest things around. 

Picking five favorite sneakers was almost impossible, but these are all looks that I love and would wear. While my daughter covets the Dad sneaker, I am probably still prone to a classic cool look myself. Whatever your style, adding a variety of styles to your closet is a great way to give your style a modern feel. Happy hunting!
